The Town’s first major grocery store anchors the Gateway Park retail development on Belt Line Road and Town East Boulevard
The Town of Sunnyvale is proud to be home to a new Tom Thumb located at 3400 N Belt Line Road in Sunnyvale, TX. Town leadership and development partners celebrated the grand opening with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony in mid-December of 2025.
Tom Thumb customers are enjoying the long-awaited 59,000-square-foot store, featuring everything grocery shoppers need to fill their pantries and host their events. Up and down the aisles of the new Tom Thumb, shoppers find it fully stocked, featuring tens of thousands of items and more than 1,000 local products. Customers at this store enjoy the fresh departments Tom Thumb customers know and love, including Bakery, Deli, Meat & Seafood, Produce, and Floral. Shoppers and community members also love the in-store Starbucks coffee kiosk, Pharmacy in-store plus drive-thru lane, and Drive-Up-N-Go™ grocery pick-up.
“We are so excited to open this Tom Thumb for the Sunnyvale community”, said Bill Neve, Division President. “Tom Thumb is excited to showcase our full-service grocery store and fresh new items that customers in Sunnyvale will love. We’re incredibly grateful to the Town of Sunnyvale for their support of this new store and have been looking forward to meeting our newest customers and welcoming them into their Tom Thumb!”
The Town of Sunnyvale approved an economic development incentive in 2024 to include the state-of-the-art grocery store as part of the Gateway Park retail center on Belt Line Road and Town East Boulevard. That retail development spans 240,000 square feet and will include additional retail, restaurants and other services.
Sunnyvale Mayor Saji George expressed excitement for how Town residents will benefit from this investment. “One of our key strategic priorities is to attract and retain businesses that align with our community’s essential needs and identity. We believe our investment in this development will continue to improve Sunnyvale’s quality of life. As mayor, I want to express my appreciation for the Town Council, 4B Board, and all of the development partners involved for their collaborative efforts which have brought us to this exciting day.”
The developer of Gateway Park believes this location is ideal for the new store, given the high level of activity at the intersection of Belt Line Road and Town East Boulevard. “Bringing an upscale, full-service grocery store to Sunnyvale has been a vision of mine for 25 years, and thanks to the partnership with the Town of Sunnyvale and Tom Thumb, that vision is now a reality that residents and families in the entire region will enjoy,” said Deric Salser, CEO of Sunnyvale-based Salser Development Group.
